It is hard to believe that it’s almost Thanksgiving, when it seems like just yesterday the Grey was welcoming new students at Move-in Day on August 26, 2012. I joined Pam Tinnen, curator at NYU’s Kimmel Galleries, and representatives from many other campus departments to give both parents and new students a little welcoming party to NYU while they collected their student IDs and partook in Move-in Day festivities. It was a day of full-throttle energy as more than 1,000 visitors came by our table to ask about exhibitions, tours, lectures, and where to find art around campus. Pam had recently created the fantastic NYU Gallery Network guide, which maps out all of the galleries on campus—it’s an impressive list! (Note: Copies of the guide are available free of charge at the Grey’s front desk.) The Grey has an exciting year of exhibitions in 2012–13, including the much-lauded Toxic Beauty: The Art of Frank Moore, which is currently on view. If you need a study break, the Fales Library in Bobst has a special extension of Toxic Beauty that is just the thing to fuel your creativity after long hours of studying. Thanks to all of the new students and parents who said hi back in August—I’m looking forward to seeing a lot of new faces in my post at the Grey’s front desk this fall!
